DETAILS: This vintage day dress is late 1960s to 1970s, cute and very wearable. The silhouette is a short sleeved shift, with stand-up collar. It is gently fitted with darting at the bust. Design details are simple but effective - "racing stripes" down the side seams of the dress, and a faux placket on the bodice with 4 bold brass buttons marching down it.

SIZE: A small label says "B" - not sure if it's a size label or not,

Shoulders - 16. 5"

Approximate waist -37"

Hips - 39" (99 cm)

Length from center back of neck - 35. 5" (90 cm)

Sweep: 46. 5" (118 cm)

FABRIC/COLORS: No fabric content or care label, which suggests this is pre-1971. The fabric is a sturdy doubleknit, which usually means a synthetic blend. These generally are machine washable and wear like iron. The primary color is a rich dark red aka maroon. The woven striped panels are done in a light and dark shade of ashes-of-roses, a soft ashy/sandy pink.

TAGS: The Collection "For That Special Occasion". It also has the ILGWU label that was used 1963-1974.

CLOSURES: Long nylon zipper down the back

CONDITION: On close inspection, I found three pinholes in the front skirt area, and hand stitched them from inside to stabilize - see closeup of before and after. I can't decide if the dress was shortened at some point - the hem edge isn't finished, and there are a few sections that are loose for a few inches. If this dress was going in my closet, I might consider shortening it a bit more into a true mini - it would be an easy alteration.
