This utterly perfect and deeply sexy take on a classic St. Christopher medallion has us weak in the knees. While we're used to seeing St. Christopher - the patron saint of travellers - decked out in a thick beard and flowing robes, Hungarian designer Paul Vincze's signature style is all exposed skin and taut muscles. Born in 1907, Vincze moved to London in the 1930s to escape the anti-Jewish sentiment in his home country; in the following decades he became renowned for his sculptural designs that give a specific dimensionality to the medallions and coins in which he typically worked. Upon retiring in the earlier 1990s, he gave British manufacturers Alabaster & Wilson license to continue producing his iconic and collectible medallions from his original dies, where they struck them through their closure in 2018, and this particular size and subject last retailed for over C$1500. In a gorgeous satin finish, this bold pendant is sure to catch eyes.
Excellent vintage condition with minimal wear. Reverse engraved ANN 15.3.63. Originally manufactured in the UK.
