Remote Online Notarization (RON) allows eligible documents to be notarized online using government-approved Remote Online Notarization technology as permitted under New York law, without requiring an in-person visit. NY Notary Public Services provides genuine New York–commissioned Remote Online Notary services.

  • Step 1: Submit Documents for Review (PDF Only and Unsigned)

  • Documents must be submitted in PDF format only and must be unsigned.
  • We review eligibility under New York law, completeness, and notarial compliance.
  • Signer identity requirements and witness requirements (if applicable) are confirmed during review.
  • Some documents cannot be notarized online, including wills and certain New York Powers of Attorney.
  • Step 2: Identity Verification & Credential Analysis

  • All signers must successfully complete identity verification before the notarization can proceed.
  • Requirements may include government-issued photo ID, credential analysis, and knowledge-based authentication (where applicable).
  • Credible witnesses: When a signer does not meet standard identity requirements, credible witnesses may be used as an alternative where permitted under New York law. Credible witnesses must be personally known to the signer and must successfully complete identity verification as required.
  • For full details on identity verification criteria, credible witnesses, device requirements, and technical setup, see our ID Verification & Technical Requirements page.
  • Step 3: Schedule the Remote Online Notary Session

  • Appointments are scheduled after documents are approved.
  • Sessions may be completed using a computer, tablet, or mobile phone, provided the device meets platform requirements at the time of the appointment.
  • Same-Day New York Apostille timing (if applicable): Remote Online Notary appointment completed by 10:30 AM ET and final documents received and approved by 11:00 AM ET. Same-day service depends on document type, volume, and government office availability.
  • Step 4: Live Notarization Session

  • The notary verifies identity and confirms the document on screen.
  • Signers apply a digital or electronic signature as instructed through the platform: selecting a pre-made font, signing with a finger/mouse/stylus, or uploading a pre-existing signature image (where permitted).
  • The notary completes the New York notarial act.
  • The session is recorded and stored as required by New York law.
  • No walk-in or in-office appointments. All services are conducted remotely.
  • Step 5: Delivery, Legal Validity & Use of the Notarized Document

  • Clients receive a digitally notarized document.
  • A digital scan is provided for proof of work and record-keeping.
  • Remote Online Notarizations performed in accordance with New York law are legally valid notarizations. Digitally notarized documents may be printed or shared as needed. Printing does not change the validity of the underlying notarization. Acceptance is determined by the receiving party, agency, court, or authority.
  • In certain court, real estate, or filing-related matters, an additional notarial certificate may be required (for example, for e-filing or hard-copy submission). When applicable, this is reviewed and provided upon request.
