Notarize documents conveniently online with a New York State notary from anywhere in the world.

NY Notary Public Services provides Remote Online Notarization (RON) using government-approved New York technology. Eligible documents can be notarized securely online using audio-video communication and identity verification protocols.

Signers can join from a computer, tablet, or mobile device — and participants may be located anywhere in the world as long as identity requirements are met. Multi-party sessions are available for eligible requests.

RON can also support certain real estate closing packages and transactional workflows when eligible, coordinated through document review.

How Remote Online Notarization Works

  • Step 1 — Email Your Document (PDF only, unsigned): Send a fully completed PDF for review (leave signature/date/notary sections blank).
  • Step 2 — Document Review: We confirm eligibility, timing, and requirements, then reply with next steps and scheduling options.
  • Step 3 — Identity Verification: Eligible signers complete the required ID verification process before the appointment.
  • Step 4 — Online Appointment: Join the secure audio-video meeting with the New York notary to sign.
  • Step 5 — Receive Your Completed Document: You receive the notarized PDF shortly after the appointment.

Identity Verification & Credible Witness Options

Remote Online Notarization requires identity verification. In many cases, this includes credential analysis and knowledge-based authentication (KBA). If a signer cannot meet standard identity verification requirements, two credible witnesses may be an option for eligible requests. Credible witnesses must know the signer personally and must be able to pass the identity verification process themselves.

Related: ID & Technical Requirements

Device & Browser Requirements

Appointments can be completed using a computer, tablet, or mobile phone with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection. No VPN is permitted during identity verification. Browser compatibility and technical requirements are listed here: ID & Technical Requirements.

Document Eligibility & Limitations

Not every document can be notarized online. Certain documents (including wills and certain New York powers of attorney) may require in-person notarization or additional formalities. We confirm eligibility during document review before scheduling.

Related: Document Eligibility & Limitations | Mobile Notary Services

International Use: Apostille & Legalization

Remote Online Notarization is often used as a first step for international submissions. Depending on the destination country, your document may also require Apostille, authentication, embassy/consulate legalization, and/or certified translation.

NYC Clerk Authorization for Third-Party Retrieval of Extended Marriage Certificates

NY Notary Public Services provides professional retrieval of Extended New York City Marriage Certificates from all five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island.

Extended marriage certificates are commonly required for Apostille, Authentication, and international use, and may also be requested for certain U.S. legal, administrative, or real estate matters that require an official long-form record.

By handling the process through scheduled clerk appointments and in-house authorization, our service typically allows clients to obtain their marriage certificate faster than standard mail-in requests submitted directly to the Clerk, subject to appointment availability.

We handle the full process in-house, including authorization, retrieval, and coordination with Apostille services when needed.

New York City marriage certificates require additional certification before they can be Apostilled or used internationally. We handle the required New York City Clerk certification, including third-party authorization and document preparation, so your marriage certificate is properly certified before submission to the New York Department of State or foreign authorities.

What Is an Extended Marriage Certificate?

An Extended Marriage Certificate is the official long-form version issued by New York City. This version is required for:

  • Apostille and international legalization
  • Dual citizenship applications
  • Foreign government registrations
  • International legal and family matters
  • Select U.S. legal, estate, and administrative purposes

Standard short-form certificates are not accepted for Apostille and are often insufficient for official use.

How the Process Works

Every request begins with a review to ensure the certificate request is prepared correctly and without delay.

  • Step 1 — Submit Your Request: Email us to request marriage certificate retrieval. After review, we confirm availability, timing, and next steps.
  • Step 2 — Authorization via Remote Online Notary (RON): To retrieve a marriage certificate, we must receive a signed authorization affidavit.

✔ Authorization is completed via Remote Online Notary
✔ Appointments are available worldwide
✔ No in-person visit is required
✔ Everything is handled securely and in-house

  • Step 3 — Clerk Appointment & Retrieval: We attend a scheduled appointment with the New York City Clerk to obtain the Extended Marriage Certificate.
  • Step 4 — Delivery: We provide a digital scan for your records and ship the certified hard copy to you.
  • Step 5 — Apostille (If Required): If the certificate is being used internationally, Apostille services follow the standard Apostille timelines and pricing.

Clerk Appointments & Availability

Marriage certificate retrieval is dependent on New York City Clerk appointment availability.

  • Appointments are limited
  • We currently attend clerk appointments on a scheduled basis
  • Availability is confirmed after review

Because appointment availability may change, we do not publish appointment calendars publicly. We confirm the next available option during the review process.

NYC Marriage Certificate for Apostille & International Use

If your marriage certificate will be used outside the United States, we can coordinate Apostille or Authentication services after retrieval. Processing timelines depend on the service level selected and are confirmed after document review.

New York City marriage certificates often require additional certification before they can be Apostilled or used internationally. We coordinate the required NYC certification steps so your document is properly prepared before submission to the New York Department of State or other authorities.

Depending on the destination country, your marriage certificate may require an Apostille (Hague Convention) or additional Embassy & Consulate Legalization (non-Hague). All international requests are reviewed individually to confirm eligibility and the correct processing path.

We also assist with certification and preparation for filing needs that may involve court or clerk handling when applicable. See Court & Clerk Certifications for related certification services.

Certified Translation for Apostille & International Use

Certified translations are commonly required when documents are being submitted for Apostille, Authentication, or Consular Legalization.

We regularly coordinate translation services alongside Apostille processing to ensure proper sequencing, correct formatting, and acceptance by foreign authorities.

For international use, requirements may vary by country and receiving agency. All translation requests begin with a document review so we can confirm the appropriate certification level. If your translated document will be submitted abroad, it may need additional processing. See Apostille & Legalization Services and Embassy & Consulate Legalization for non-Hague destinations.
